Victorias goes cashless, partners with GCash

Victorias City has partnered with GCash, a mobile payment service, in launching the Digital Service Payment Acceptance.

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez signed the memorandum of agreement for the partnership together with GCash AVP Head of Public Sector and Partnerships Cathlyn Pavia and LGU Leader for Visayas and Mindanao JR Marfori, SP Chair Committee on Digitalization, Innovation, and Smart Governance Councilor Audie Malaga, and City Treasurer Maria Rosielyn Gustilo on Wednesday, May 17.

Victoriahanons can now pay their taxes and other government payments through GCash starting Wednesday, Benitez said.

“[This partnership] means we are empowering our citizens for a digital cashless future, accountability, transparency, and convenience,” Benitez said.

Victorias City is the first local government unit to sign a memorandum of agreement with GCash in the whole of Region VI.

Benitez said he is thrilled to let Victoriahanons experience the convenient and efficient services of GCash.

He also emphasized that the partnership is part of the administration’s promotion of a clean, efficient, and inclusive government and future in Victorias.

After the signing, a simulation of the steps in paying government tax through GCash was demonstrated.

Benitez said GCash representatives recently conducted a training with the tenants at the Victorias Commercial Center.
They were taught how to do cashless transactions with the use of their GCash account and mobile phones.

City councilors, department heads, and some employees witnessed the MOA signing.

GCash Senior Account Manager for Western Visayas Kim Marie Infante along with the other representatives from GCash were also in attendance.*
